Blue it is
Baby blue is a pale tint of azure, one of the pastel colours. The first recorded use of “baby blue” as a colour name in English was in 1892.
Beau blue is a light tone of baby blue. “Beau” means “beautiful” in French. The source of this colour is the colour that is called beau blue in the Plochere Color System, a colour system formulated in 1948 that is widely used by interior designers.
In Western culture, the colour baby blue is often associated with baby boys (and baby pink for baby girls), particularly in clothing and linen and shoes. This is a recent tradition, however, and until the 1940s the convention was exactly the opposite: pink was considered the appropriate colour for boys as the more masculine and “decided” while blue was the more delicate and dainty colour and therefore appropriate for girls.
